Birth of a child using frozenthawed testicular spermatozoa
Fertility Center Hamburg, Speersort 4, D-20095, Germany
Dear Sir,
In the recent paper (Res et al., 2000
) on `the use of testicular spermatozoa from a man treated for seminoma after cryopreservation of testis biopsies' the authors cite another article (Khalifeh et al., 1997
), as the first report on the birth of a child using frozenthawed testicular spermatozoa. This is not quite correct. In 1996, our paper on this subject was published in Human Reproduction and to the best of our knowledge this is in fact the first description of this method in the field of assisted procreation (Fischer et al., 1996
).
