Pregnancy following chemical activation of oocytes in a couple with repeated failure of fertilization using ICSI: Case report

Y. Murase, Y. Araki, S. Mizuno, C. Kawaguchi, M. Naito, M. Yoshizawa and Y. Araki

Hum. Reprod., 19, 1604–1607, 2004

The authors wish to apologize for a mistake made in the material and methods section of the above paper. They would like to point out that they did not use puromycin oocyte activation, they only used calcium inonophore A23187. The second line of the right hand column on page 1605 ‘Subsequently, the oocytes were activated with puromycin (10 µ/ml) for 5 h, rinsed several times in culture medium...’ was added in error. In consequence the phrase ‘and puromycin’ in the first line of the abstract is in error and the sentence at the end of the discussion ‘Calcium ionophore and puromycinoocyte activation seems to be a useful method in cases of repeated failed fertilization after ICSI’ is inappropriate.
