About the Cover

Cover Figure

Cover design  The front cover of Human Reproduction shows a mouse model designed to study the interaction between DAZ and RBM genes. Male mice with a deletion in the Y chromosome and consequent reduced number of Rbm genes were crossed with female Dazl1 knockout mice. The resultant phenotype showed a reduction in sperm count and increased incidence of abnormal sperm head and tail defects, in comparison with either mutation alone. As shown, the Dazl-/+Ydl mice exhibited tail defects including abnormal coiling (upper) and regions of breakdown (lower). Spermatogenetic defects included Sertoli cell-only tubules (upper left), pachytene arrest (upper right) and symplasts and multinucleate aggregations (lower right 3 panels). For further details, see pp. 30233029.
