About the Cover
Cover design The front cover of Human Reproduction shows heparan sulphate proteoglycan (HSPG) immunostaining in endometrial samples from a control cycle (above) and 4 months after Norplant insertion (below). HSPG is present in the endometrial glands (EG), microvessels (MV) and epithelium (E). Exposure to Norplant increases vascular fragility and reduces HSPG expression in the disrupted vessels. These changes to endometrial microvasculature may contribute to the breakthrough bleeding experienced with Norplant use. For further details, see pp. 716-721.
