About the Cover
Cover design The front cover of Human Reproduction shows the separation of prolactin isoforms by isoelectric chromatofocusing. Arrows indicate bioactive prolactin isoforms assayed by Nb2 lymphoma cell assay. Isoform profiles in basal and post-suckling plasma pools collected 3 times daily from amenorrhoeic nursing women (upper), cycling nursing women (central) and in basal plasma pool of non-nursing cycling women (lower) are shown. Since bioactive isoforms eluting at pH 6.0-5.1 in nursing women and isoforms eluting at pH7.0-6.1 were found only in amenorrhoeic nursing women it is suggested that these isoforms have a role in lactation and lactational amenorrhoea respectively. For further details, see pp. 898-905.
